Training and Development

Marren engineers cover the whole of the UK. They have a comprehensive skill set with the knowledge and expertise to support you on a wide range of specialist foodservice products. A guaranteed quick and efficient service with a commitment to maintaining all the relevant Health & Safety standards.

Trained engineers you can rely on for all your repairs and servicing

The priority is to ensure your catering equipment is repaired and serviced as quickly as possible. Our goal is to deliver a 95% ‘first-time’ fix service. All our engineers undergo extensive training and are monitored regularly for any future needs. Which is why they are all employed directly by Marren and we never use sub-contractors. Always committed to identifying updates in legislation, process or technical improvement that can speed up your repairs.

Our in-house training facility in Northamptonshire is run by a qualified training manager who is a specialist in the industry. A technical manager is also involved to ensure our engineers receive comprehensive training and you benefit from their expertise. Bespoke training can be developed for different learning styles and delivered through a variety of channels, not just face to face.

Continued learning and improvement

A structured auditing process is in place for engineers. This allows us to monitor their performance on behalf of you and identify any additional training needs. A manager will carry out an audit with the individual at least twice a month and feedback to them directly.

The system is based on a standard checklist with specific questions. This process is continually refined and improved to ensure we maintain a quality service. It can also help us identify potential issues before you realise there is a problem.

None of this is possible without our in-house training facility. This gives us a huge amount of flexibility. The audit enables us to identify specific topics where additional training is needed. A programme is then developed to deliver this requirement. It’s a very quick and effective way to support our engineers in delivering the service we promise to you.

Using the latest technology to provide instant feedback

The audit process we use is electronic. The manager who undertakes the audit will carry a tablet to go through the checklist and answer the questions. Engineers are on-site and if necessary, photographs are taken.

Through this platform, we can provide regular, structured and evidenced feedback to our engineers. This makes it a lot easier to identify any training needs and arrange the necessary support. We can also provide feedback to you quickly and easily. This helps us keep you informed and is a way to continually monitor the quality of our work on your behalf.

Always quick to adopt the latest technology we have invested in Smart glasses for our engineers. Wearing a pair of these, managers can connect directly with the field. Which means the training managers can be located anywhere in the UK and provide direct support to the engineer. In effect, they are seeing exactly what the engineer is looking at through the glasses. It equates to another pair of eyes working on the repair.

The glasses are effective for our newly trained engineers. Providing extra support in the field and helping to build confidence. Also a benefit to engineers who might be facing a challenging situation. We can provide advice instantly to ensure we continue to deliver our ‘first-time fix’ ethos.

Training support for your staff

The extensive training our engineers undergo is to ensure they are equipped to do their job. Sharing their knowledge with you is something we encourage. Which means an engineer can provide you with on-site training for simple maintenance tasks. The most common area where they provide support is in cleaning your catering equipment. This is a relatively straightforward task to undertake. But carried out correctly it will extend the life of your machine and reduce the risk of a breakdown.
